It’s been almost 7 years since Monkey D.Luffy first activated his Gear 4th Technique and many fans are wondering if Luffy will get another upgrade. While Eiichiro Oda has yet to confirm it, the One Piece fan seems to have found a clue. to Luffy Gear 5 in the recently released chapter of the manga series.
Will there be a Gear 5 for Luffy?
Theoretically, Luffy gear 5 is Possible, and We may see an Entirely new Form of Luffy.
One Piece Chapter 1042 has just been released and features the continuation of the intense battle between Kaido and Luffy. As their fight was already drawing to a close, a member of the CP0 suddenly appeared behind Luffy. This unexpected appearance of the CP0 distracts Luffy, resulting in Kaido attacking and taking out the Straw Hat Captain. As seen in the final expansion of the chapter, Kaido’s attack appears to have put Luffy in a different unconscious state.
If Kaido really defeated Luffy, this could be the third time Kaido defeated Luffy. The first time happened on the Wano continent where Luffy was seen in his Gear 4th. And the second loss happened when Kaido KO’d him. The flying island of Onigashima.
One Piece featured Kaido as the “strongest creature” in the series, and if Luffy defeated Kaido with just his fourth gear, it would seem like a joke. Obviously, Luffy needs another power upgrade to defeat Kaido, as does Law. and Kid defeated Big Mom with her awakening.
Everyone is waiting for Luffy to transform into his Gear 5, but unfortunately, it’s not time yet. However, manga fans discovered some clues in One Piece Chapter 1042 that could lead to Luffy’s Gear 5.
What are The Possiblities for Luffy Gear 5?
One of the biggest questions when it comes to speculating about Luffy’s Gears is whether there will be a fifth gear at all. After all, Luffy just managed to improve his grip on Gear Fourth and may not be ready for the next step. While there is some truth to this notion, it’s entirely possible that Gear Fifth exists, depending on what Gear Fifth fans think.
Luffy’s gears work uniquely, taking full advantage of his time devil fruit power. With Gear Second, Luffy uses his rubbery body to maintain incredibly high blood pressure, causing blood to flow much faster in his body and become stronger from the sudden doping effect. In Gear Third, Luffy simply inflates his rubber bones to generate as much power as possible, and Gear Fourth uses high-level compression thanks to Haki combined with Gomu Gomu no Mi.
Obviously, there’s room for Gear Fifth for Luffy since he hasn’t yet mastered all aspects of his Devil Fruit power. One big power-up is still missing for Luffy and that is the awakening of the devil fruit. Awaken the Gomu Gomu no Mi, his power will rise another level when he sees what he did for Eustass Kid and Trafalgar Law. Just like them, Luffy will likely use his devil fruit at crucial moments and be able to harness powers beyond a simple rubber body. As such, Luffy’s fifth gear could be the way he just focuses more on using awakening.
What Can be The Powers of Gear 5?
When Luffy finally awakens his devil fruit, Gear Fifth’s powers will likely have something to do with it. For example, in Gear Fourth, Luffy made extensive use of Haki no matter what form it was based on. Similarly, with Gear Fifth, he’ll likely use the new powers he’s gained and that is Awakening. To understand what Gear Fifth would do, fans need to understand what Luffy’s awakening would be like. While Luffy’s most basic fruit ability will likely turn everything around him to gum, there’s definitely more. By awakening his fruit, Luffy will likely also gain full control over the rubber’s properties, as well as the ability to alter some of its properties. For example, Luffy could use rubber vulcanized through hardening. Rubber and use it for toughness, which would help him both offensively and defensively.
At the same time, Luffy could also create resin-like rubber, gaining additional agility. Furthermore, by utilizing rubber’s resin-like property, he could even harness a logia-like power that would render him intangible much like Katakuri. Finally, Whole Cake Island made sure fans understood how similar Luffy and Katakuri were in terms of power. Acquiring these two abilities and spreading them allowed Luffy to essentially create Gear Fifth.
In theory, Gear Fifth is entirely possible and would see Luffy utilizing vulcanized rubber if needed while also utilizing Logia-like powers of inviolability. All this ineffective combination with Color of Arms Haki and Color of Supreme King Haki. make Luffy almost unstoppable. Since he’s already strong enough to fight Kaido,
the new Gear Fifth could give him better techniques and make him much stronger than before, even pushing him beyond the level of the Four Emperors and allowing him to be the strongest in the by far to be series. .
